Creating a future for local farmers
The farmers are getting older; succession within the farms is challenging due to poor prospects. Around the 30 hectares of land near Basecamp, mainly rice was cultivated. This did not yield good returns. No less than 81 families depend on the land’s produce.
By establishing a foundation with the farmers and shifting the focus from rice cultivation to vegetable and fruit growing, the farmers’ income has already increased significantly. Chickens, goats, and ducks are now also kept. The ducks additionally serve as natural pesticides, making farm-to-table now a feasible option.

Art in rice fields
Hiking through an outdoor Art Gallery.
Basecamp Bali will host the Art in the Rice Fields Hike, a scenic walking trail through the resort and surrounding landscape. Along this trail, visitors can find twelve art installations created by young artists, local villagers, and individuals with disabilities, providing them a platform for creative expression.
Encouraging a spirit of free thinking, Basecamp invites artists to innovate, experiment, and create without constraints. The company will supply the necessary materials and install the artworks along the path, allowing visitors to explore and seek out all twelve pieces during their walk. Besides fostering creativity, the project aims to draw visitors from Ubud to Manuaba, promoting regional exploration, local engagement, and economic growth. Ultimately, this initiative will form a dynamic outdoor art gallery where nature, art, and community intersect.
Basecamp Jungle Club Residences is a limited collection of just 20 residences set within the natural surroundings of Manuaba, Bali.

RESULTS FROM OUR ANALYSIS WITH PUM
While Ubud is now a global hub for yoga and cafes, Kenderan offers a more authentic experience with temples and villages that serve as living heritage rather than staged displays. It feels more genuine and relaxed — ideal for slow travel: strolling through rice fields, waterfalls, exploring local art, engaging with residents, and enjoying the atmosphere. Kenderan is famous for sacred water, scenic landscapes, and its ancient spiritual heritage linked to Bali’s prehistoric roots. Evidence is Manuaba, where sarcophagi from the Great Stone Age show the area has been inhabited for nearly 2,000 years. The village maintains lively traditions centered around the Griya Sakti Manuaba temple. Additionally, Kenderan has an artistic vibe — walking through rice fields resembles a painted landscape; the megalithic stones were moulds for bronze drums, and many local artists contribute to its creative atmosphere.
HOW BASECAMP BALI IS GOING TO FOLLOW THROUGH
Basecamp Bali has taken these aspects into account and currently develops plans with local stakeholders to promote Kendaran by implementing immersive experiences in the region. There is great potential to make destination Kenderan more diverse and attractive while preserving its traditions.

Buying property in Bali as a foreigner may seem complicated, but with the right guidance, it’s entirely possible—and rewarding! Whether you’re wondering about taxes, Indonesian laws, or ownership structures, we’re here to guide you through every step of the process.
When you have decided which villa suits you best, our notary will formalise all paperwork with you. Included in their fee is a tax advice session, where they’ll help you decide the best structure based on your personal situation. They can also help you with setting up a local tax account, bank account or apply for a KITA (visa).
You can choose between two payment schedules. The chosen payment schedule determines what happens if we’re late in delivering the Villa.
- Payment Option A: Pay the full Lease Price at signing, and receive a discount of 5% over the Lease Price.
- Payment Option B: Pay in 4 instalments (30% at signing, 25% after 3 months, 25% after 6 months, 20% at delivery.

The primary driver of the Basecamp Bali eco resort development is the preservation of the natural beauty of its location. Whilst the 10-hectare site sits within a greater 30-hectare site, the objective has been to build in clusters to preserve the rice paddies.
