Selection criteria
Finding the right space comes with questions. We’ve compiled a list of criteria to help you make a well-informed decision.
We offer two main accommodation types:
(a) Seven newly built cottages (bandas)
These cottages are designed using natural materials with an eco-style that blends into the tropical environment. They are round double rooms with sea views and private balconies. Interiors are beautifully decorated with handcrafted furniture made by local African artisans, combining comfort with authentic character.
Each room features a solid, movable concrete bed fitted with a large, comfortable mattress, along with bedside tables, reading lights, charging ports, a natural wooden fan and both sea and garden views.
The seating area includes two sofa chairs with a table and a traditional round cultural chair. Additional amenities include a water heater, hair dryer, two wash basins, a shower, and a luxury toilet.
Each banda also has a private balcony furnished with two wooden chairs and a table.
(b) Family bungalow
This consists of two separate double rooms, each with a king-sized bed and a private bathroom. It is ideal for families with children, with a semi-open children’s area and a shared cooking space. The bungalow also features a private luxury balcony and a stylish seating area with ocean views.
All accommodations are designed with comfort, sustainability, and privacy in mind.
We provide high-speed Wi-Fi up to 30 Mbps, compatible with 5G-enabled devices. At present, coverage is available in public areas such as the reception, pool area and restaurant.
Installation of an in-room Wi-Fi system is currently underway and will soon allow connectivity in all rooms.
Each room is equipped with a table and chairs suitable for light work or personal use, as described under each room category.
Yes, we have a standby generator that automatically activates within approximately one second in the event of a power outage.
We currently do not have dedicated meeting rooms or call booths. However, our restaurant and outdoor areas are comfortably suited to informal meetings.
Tea and coffee are included in every guest’s stay.
Standard coffee and tea are available in-room as described above. Speciality beverages such as cappuccino and espresso are available upon request and are charged separately.
Yes, vegetarian and vegan options are available. Our restaurant offers flexible menus prepared with fresh ingredients.
We currently do not have a dedicated coworking space. All meals are served in our restaurant.
Yes, Basecamp Changani has a social, community-like atmosphere where guests often connect during meals, activities and events.
Basecamp Changani is a peaceful eco-resort designed for relaxation and connection with nature. Evenings are generally calm, with occasional bonfires, while weekends focus on unwinding and enjoying the surroundings.
Guests can also enjoy recreational facilities, including a swimming pool, basketball and volleyball, badminton, darts, and chess.
Local transportation, such as taxis, tuk-tuks, and motorbikes, is available.Â
Walking is generally safe in suitable areas and at appropriate times. As with any destination, we recommend using local guidance from our staff when needed, especially for solo travellers.

Bring something home and support the locals. In our shop, you’ll find all kinds of nice souvenirs that will remind you of your wonderful stay here once you are back home. Local products you can buy in the shop include freshly roasted cashew nuts, honey and spices from Zanzibar, teddy turtles for kids, seaweed soap, African fabric, coconut oil, and shopping bags (supporting both Mabinti and Sea Sense).
