Bike rental
Get on your bike and explore the surroundings of Basecamp IJmuiden! With our bike rental service you have the freedom to explore the breathtaking nature at your own pace. There are several nice cycling routes.

Rent a standard bike from MyHotelBike for just €15 per day. Want to make it easier for yourself? Choose an e-bike The e-bike costs €30 per day. If you pick up the bike after 11:00 am, you pay €25.
You can also add a child seat or dog trailer to both bike options. Of course, we haven’t forgotten about the little ones: children’s bikes are available for rent for €12.50 per day.
A GREAT START OF THE DAY
The lake
Basecamp IJmuiden is set directly on the lake. The lake was created during excavations for a row of dunes along the high-tide line to protect the nature reserve. Start the day with a refreshing dip or a walk around the lake. Follow the route directly along the water and let your dog run free, as this is allowed all year round!
The pier
The pier offers fresh air and scenic views, attracting sea anglers, ship enthusiasts, and visitors to see cruise ships. You can catch crabs in rock pools or watch anglers’ catches. It also hosts migratory and songbirds, with different species each season.
The harbor
The harbor of IJmuiden is always worth a visit, with everything from Ocean Race yachts and sailboats to holiday boats. Since 1994, Marina Seaport IJmuiden has been a popular base for water sports enthusiasts. Located outside the locks at the mouth of the North Sea Canal, the marina offers direct access to the North Sea. The harbor has also grown to include offices, a beach resort, a hotel, cafés, beach pavilions, shops, and a yacht club.

The Zuid Kennemerland National Park
Discover this incredibly beautiful, unspoilt protected dune area by bike or on foot.
In addition, numerous activities, such as treasure hunts and excursions, are organised by the national park. If you are interested, you can register on their website.

Blokarting
Also called beach sailing. A must do! Fly over the beach with the wind in your sails. Under the guidance of the Eventmaker‘s team, you have mastered the tricks of the trade in no time. Highly recommended for larger groups, but individuals are also more than welcome. The Eventmaker offers many other super fun beach activities. Fun guaranteed!
A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY
Fort island IJmuiden
Go on an excursion to Fort Island IJmuiden. This is a 19th century fortification and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the Second World War it was part of the Atlantic Wall. Experienced guides are happy to show you around this imposing building on the public days mentioned. Open one Sunday a month and in high season also one Wednesday a month.
Please note, it is not possible to pay by card on the island.
GIVE BACK
Beach clean-ups
A clean-up is a practical and personal way to take action. It shows that any individual can make a difference and help prevent new plastics from entering our soil and ocean. At reception, you can collect a beach clean-up bingo card. The goal of this game is to clean up the beach. Find as much litter as possible to cross off as many boxes on the card.

In addition to Basecamp IJmuiden being an event location for corporate events and meetings, we also organize our own events and activities at the resort for both guests and non-guests. Think of yoga classes in the dunes, gardening courses in the greenhouse, movie nights and intimate dinners.

Things to do with car or public transport
Frequently Asked Questions
Depending on the time of year, we recommend bringing plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat for sun protection. For your comfort, you may also wish to bring light, breathable clothing, sunglasses, and comfortable footwear.
If your excursion includes time by the sea around Mafia Island, a swimsuit, a towel, and a waterproof bag are advisable. Insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and a camera to capture the experience are also recommended.
Bloemendaal & Zandvoort aan Zee
Bloemendaal beach is 4300 meters long and is located between Zandvoort aan Zee and Velsen. Everyone can find an ideal spot on this more than four kilometers of beach. For the cocktail lover, there is always a good place to be found in one of the seven beach pavilions on the beach of Bloemendaal. For the more active, there is a water sports center where you can take lessons, but also rent equipment. Further on the beach you can enjoy the tranquility with the sounds of the ocean in the background.
Zandvoort is also called the ‘Pearl by the sea’ with kilometres of clean white beaches.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam, the Dutch capital, is known for its artistic heritage, extensive canal network and narrow gabled houses, a legacy of the Golden Age. The Museum Quarter is a must visit for culture enthusiasts. Here you will find the Van Gogh Museum, the Rijksmuseum with works by Rembrandt and Vermeer, and the Stedelijk Museum with modern art. The best way to explore the city is by bicycle.
Haarlem
A pleasant historic center, famous museums, shops, restaurants and the beach around the corner. From hidden streets from bygone times to hip concept stores.
