Currently, Basecamp has two resorts under its brand name, with five more in operation or development—from sunny Sardinia to Bali’s rice fields. In total, Basecamp owns seven resorts worldwide, including two in Sardinia, one in Amsterdam, two in Tanzania, one in IJmuiden aan Zee, and one in Bali.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Basecamp is seeking an enterprising, adventurous couple for a temporary 3-6 month role. Together, you’ll be responsible for managing our beautiful location on Mafia Island, Tanzania. We’re looking for a duo with a passion for hospitality and hands-on leadership experience. At Basecamp, every day brings something new! You will have full responsibility for a 27-room resort.

This role includes overseeing the reception, all rooms, indoor and outdoor spaces, housekeeping, and maintenance. You’ll spend most of your time on the floor, leading and supporting your team directly. With an eye for innovation, you’ll bring fresh ideas and continuously improve all processes, aiming for digital and automated solutions wherever possible. You are structured and keep an overview, even in high-pressure situations. Together with the local team and our headquarters in the Netherlands, you’ll work to maximize revenue, occupancy, and guest satisfaction.

A flexible, positive attitude and hospitality experience are essential for this role.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATES

You have at least two years of experience as a supervisor or manager in the hospitality sector and are fluent in English; Swahili is a plus! As an ambitious couple with a passion for people and hospitality, you are skilled communicators with creativity and drive. You are enthusiastic, hospitable, flexible, and have an entrepreneurial spirit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily management of the team, overseeing 27 rooms
• Being a visible presence, supporting the team
• Coaching and developing team members
• Assisting duty managers (restaurant, reception, staff management)
• Creating structure and improving processes
• Delivering high-level guest experiences and service
• Coordinating and communicating with the Basecamp headquarters
