Frequently Asked Questions about Sardinia
Sardinia is best known for its beautiful beaches, small bays with crystal clear sea, authentic food and beautiful nature. Because there is also a pleasant temperature all year round, it is a popular holiday destination. There is something for everyone: take a long walk through nature, visit a winery, go for culture to Sant’Antioco (the oldest city in Europe), or let go of your energy with surfing, sailing, diving and much more.
It is often said that Sardinia is an expensive holiday destination. However, Sardinia is cheaper than you think. High prices are mainly found on the north-east coast, at Costa Smeralda, the so-called jet-set part of the island. Around Sant’Antioco, and in many other places with the lesser-known beaches and non-touristy towns, you will find that the prices are much more reasonable. It is generally comparable to the prices in the rest of Italy.
The flight time from Amsterdam Schiphol to Sardinia is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes with a direct flight. From Cagliari Airport, it is another 1 hour and 15 minutes drive to the resort in Sant’Antioco and only 40 minutes to Pula. There are also ferries to the port of Cagliari from Civitavecchia (near Rome), Naples and Salerno. The sailing time from Civitavecchia to Cagliari is approximately 15 hours, with the option of staying overnight in a private cabin.
The rental income is bundled for all houses together. Basecamp retains 25% rental commission from the rental income. Every month you will receive an overview, and payment of the net rental income of the previous month. Net rental income = guest payments minus direct costs (cleaning, linen, water, electricity, etc.).
You pay a fixed amount per year for park costs. In addition, we ask for an annual deposit for the maintenance of the houses. Finally, you are obliged to take out good insurance for the property and liability (which we take care of and invoice).
Nothing! Basecamp Sardinia takes care of the maintenance of the park and all its facilities, the promotion of the resort, optimising occupancy and turnover, customer contact, check-in, manning the reception, carrying out the administration, cleaning the houses and providing maintenance services.
At the resorts in Sardinia you can use your holiday home as often as you like. The maximum consecutive time is 3 months (more is possible in consultation with park management). We do not charge a nightly rate for personal use. However, the consumption costs for water, electricity and cleaning are charged (as with every user).
Yes, you can. You set the price yourself. Basecamp has the first right to buy it from you. If Basecamp indicates that they are not interested, it can be sold to a third party for an equal or higher price.
The Basecamp team
Basecamp was founded and is run by a team of impact-driven entrepreneurs, engineers, sustainability-, hospitality- and travel experts. We are developing our network of Eco-resorts because we strongly believe in our shared mission to show that eco-tourism can be both climate positive and profitable. At Basecamp, you won’t find men in suits, but CEOs digging holes and laying cables in the ground. When you contact us, we will be the ones answering the phone. Or even better, visit Basecamp and meet us in person. We would love to welcome you!
