A dog-friendly environment
Dogs are warmly welcomed at Basecamp Eco-resorts. Not only in your selected Tiny House but also at the bars, such as The Lobby in Amsterdam and the terrace of the Tiny Bar in IJmuiden, your furry friend (on a leash) is welcome to join. There’s no shortage of pampering here. Some Tiny Houses come with a dog bed, water bowls are available, and don’t be surprised if your dog is greeted with a cuddle or even a treat.
Hiking together to enoy the surrounded nature
There is nothing more fun than getting out of your cottage directly into nature together, where your canine buddy can run around. Basecamp’s Eco-resorts are always located directly in nature with plenty of beautiful hiking trails. Basecamp Amsterdam lies in the middle of the green gardens of West filled with fruit trees, and Basecamp IJmuiden is right next to a nature reserve in the dunes and beach. Keep in mind that in high season rules apply to dogs on the beach. Either way, there are plenty of places where your four-legged friend will be able to expend all his energy.
A dog cart to attach to your bike!
Prefer to go a little further afield? Given the natural surroundings of our resorts, biking is always a good plan, and Basecamp has several available for rental. There are city bikes, electric bikes, but especially for your four-legged friend, a dog cart is available. Attach the dog cart to your own or rented bike, and go on an adventure together! Please contact the respective Basecamp location to check availability during your stay.
Frequently asked questions about a holliday with dog
In most of the Tiny Houses, a maximum of one dog per house is allowed. The selected houses where dogs are welcome can be found on the booking page above. Does your dog prefer a bit more space? A Tiny House may sound small, but most are surprisingly spacious! The square meter size is listed on the page of each specific house.
Absolutely! Basecamp IJmuiden is located just a 100-meter walk from the widest beach in the Netherlands. The page below explains where and when dogs are allowed to roam off-leash on IJmuiden beach. Each beach in the Netherlands has its own rules, but on the nearby beach, Bloemendaal aan Zee, dogs can run free for most of the year. From our resort in Amsterdam, these beaches are not far—just a 30-minute drive away.
As a dog lover, it might be hard to imagine, but not everyone shares your enthusiasm for dogs. That’s why we kindly ask you to consider other guests and adhere to the following guidelines:
- Always keep your dog on a leash while on the resort.
- Do not leave your dog alone in your Tiny House.
- Bring no more than one dog per Tiny House.
- A dog fee of €20 – €25 per dog per stay applies (depending on the location)
A maximum of one dog per cottage is allowed at all of our resorts.
Make sure you have added the “Pet Fee” to your booking. First, search for your favorite Tiny House by checking the “dog” filter selection to make sure your pet is welcome in the cottage you want to book. Then add the “Pet Fee” further down the booking process under extras. The Pet Fee is €20 – €25 per stay. Always check that it has been added to the summary of your booking. This way we know you are coming with your pet, and we make sure you are assigned the right cottage.
This varies by resort. At our resort in Amsterdam, a comfortable dog bed will be ready once you have added the “Pet Fee” to your booking. In IJmuiden, unfortunately, there are no dog beds available.
