An eco-resort is an environmentally friendly resort that ensures minimal damage to the surrounding ecosystems. Damaged ecosystems are restored, and a small footprint is pursued by using sustainable energy sources, recycled materials, local food and labor, and reusing energy sources and water.

A Tiny House is a compact and cleverly furnished home of maximum 50-60 m2 with the smallest possible ecological footprint. It is also seen as a lifestyle with a clear philosophy around sustainability and minimalism.

Sustainability at Basecamp

Basecamp has a big heart for nature and works from an important sustainability mission – Offering the most sustainable alternative to regular holiday parks and resorts. We do this by leaving the smallest possible footprint, restoring damaged ecosystems, and working with local partners and staff as much as possible. We are busy setting up all our resorts in this way. Want to know more about this?

More about sustainability

Each resort features a mix of tiny houses and are made from as many sustainable and natural materials as possible. We collaborate with manufacturers who operate with a sustainable mission and continuously innovate to build energy-neutral and sustainable homes, both during manufacturing and in use. The tiny houses are gas-free, well-insulated, often equipped with solar panels, and incorporate water-saving measures. We also utilize SmartGrid technology for energy storage.

Additionally, the houses are furnished with sustainable interiors and products. By consciously sourcing sustainable items, small changes ultimately lead to significant savings.

At Basecamp, you can invest in a vacation home at one of our resorts. The purchase price of a vacation house at Basecamp varies depending on the resort and type of house, but typically starts from €160,000. Additionally, we offer the Owners Club, which allows you to join from €100,000 and enjoy access to multiple vacation homes and resorts.

About investing in Basecamp

The Owners Club is an organization that purchases vacation homes across various Basecamp resorts. You can join starting from €100,000 and become a co-owner of these properties. We like to keep it simple. Your vacation home generates rental income, and 75% of this goes to you as the owner. The financial return per house strongly depends on the type of vacation home and resort, as well as how much time you plan to spend enjoying it yourself. At our first resort, Basecamp IJmuiden, which opened in 2019, we welcome over 10,000 guests annually, and homeowners received an average return of 13% last year.

When renting out your vacation home, Basecamp takes care of all your concerns. We handle all bookings, maintenance, and cleaning, so you don’t have to worry about a thing

Basecamp takes care of all resort facilities, minor maintenance, marketing, communication with guests, cleaning, administration, and much more. To make this possible, we retain a 25% rental commission, and depending on the resort, there are fixed annual costs for lot rental and technical services. Furthermore, it is highly recommended to obtain good insurance for any potential damage to your own property. Basecamp is happy to advise you, and in most cases, you can benefit from collective deals.

Due to the recreational nature of the resort, permanent residency is not permitted.

Accommodations at our Basecamp locations are available solely from an investment perspective. This means they are not intended for permanent living, but rather for a combination of guest rentals and personal use. This allows you to enjoy financial returns while having your own space for vacations or remote work!
